AIs were known for recognizing images, answering questions as chatbots, or searching texts. But for the first time ever, there's a serious AI application that can generate text: ChatGPT. How good is the AI for technical documentation and what does it mean for our profession as technical communicators? Ulrike Parson managed to fire off a few questions to the AI despite the frenzy to use ChatGPT. She summarized her first impressions and research results in this blog article. Read the blog post.

We are happy to support the InterOpera project by contributing to the development of two sub-models of the Asset Administration Shell (AAS):

  1. Digital Standards Datasheet, which defines how standards are delivered in the Asset Administration Shell.
  2. iiRDS Handover Documentation, which implements an Asset Administration Shell for technical documentation that is delivered as iiRDS.

Success story. parson advises GS1 Germany on the use of knowledge graphs

We are pleased to announce that we have successfully completed the second phase of the digitalization project with GS1 Germany.

The goalTo provide its customers with more user-friendly and target group-oriented documentation, GS1 Germany wants to digitalize and partially automate their product information, technical documentation, and documentation processes.

The solution: In the second phase of this project, we supported GS1 Germany with selecting a knowledge graph system for managing the semantic GDSN data and its documentation. In addition, we developed an information architecture that meets the information needs of the target groups.

Create PDF from HTML - Format documents with CSS Paged Media

In this new knowledge article, Martin Fiebig, Technical Communicator at parson, discusses how to convert technical documentation content from DITA-XML or HTML to PDF. He compares the advantages and disadvantages of XSL-FO and CSS Page Media languages, tests programs for rendering HTML files to PDF via CSS, and compares their features. Read the knowledge article.
