DITA, chatbots, northern lights: Meet us at DITA Europe in Helsinki from February 12-13, 2024

January 08, 2024

We are looking forward to DITA Europe in Helsinki and hope to see some northern lights!

February 11 is dedicated to the DITA Open Toolkit. The DITA-OT Day will take place for the eighth time as a pre-conference day.

Marion Knebel will present the DITA-OT plugin, which we are currently developing on behalf of the iiRDS consortium and which allows you to create iiRDS packages from DITA.

Marion Knebel: „Publishing with iiRDS from DITA“

February 11, 2024, 12.10 p.m.

Summary: iiRDS, the tekom standard for the standardized exchange and delivery of technical documentation, has been on the market for a few years. We have demonstrated in the past why an content standard like DITA is a good fit for a delivery standard like iiRDS. In 2024, tekom will publish an DITA-OT plugin that generates iiRDS packages from standard DITA content, based on the metadata that you already have. After a brief introduction to iiRDS, you will learn how to use the plugin in your DITA environment.

At DITA Europe Mette Lilienthal and Marion Knebel will present a content supply chain that makes DITA XML documentation accessible via a chatbot.

Mette Lilienthal and Marion Knebel: „Feeding a chatbot with DITA“

Feburary 12, 2024, 9.20 a.m.

Summary:  This presentation introduces a content supply chain to make DITA XML documentation content accessible to a chatbot. A typical use-case scenario would be using the chatbot for troubleshooting, having the chatbot respond with the correct solution(s) extracted directly from the DITA XML source files. The solution was developed as part of a master’s thesis, which also included tests of the user acceptance for this kind of user assistance.
